Out of 9,097 ships registered with ClassNK, 7,124 have to be installed with BWMS according to the BWM Convention. As of the end of August 2019, installation is complete for 2,006 which leaves behind 4,518 ships.

The decrease in the number of ships without BWMS within 1 year by 882 is good but the installation deadline is greatly concentrated in 2022 for these ships.

Foreseeing difficulties in the installation of BWMS, CkassNK suggests the installation be done in advance.
