Dredge Yard Signs Contract For Customized Cutter Dredger ECO 300
Dredge Yard announced that it has signed a contract with CDC Dredging L.L.C. for the design and delivery of a customized Cutter Suction dredger ECO 300. CDC Dredging is a UAE based dredging company that operates mainly in the Gulf Cooperation Council. They are buying the new dredger to participate in the projects relating to the hard soil.
Customized design
Dredgers equipment are usually demanded to be powerful, large and heavy because they are to dredge hard materials. However, the CDC has demanded for a powerful yet easily transportable and compact dredger design. The Dredge Yard thus will design the ECO 300 as per the customization that is required by the client for the extra cutting power.
“We are planning to use this unique, newly designed and built, dismountable dredger with 120 kW cutter power to execute challenging projects with hard soil, in locations where big dredgers, with similar power, could not reach, or could not be financially suitable to execute such projects” says Dr. Samer Kelani, Chief Executive Officer, CDC Dredging L.L.C.
Additional cutting power
Dredge Yard’s dredger, Cutter Suction ECO 300 will be a shallow draft that can be easily transported by a truck. It will have an increased power engine i.e. the Caterpillar C18 engine installed in it for the powerful cutting performance. A company that is collaborating from Germany will supply a hydraulic and rotary drum cutter head. The dredging depth of ECO 300 will also be extended to 12m for canal deepening projects.
Dredger assembly and testing in Dubai
The dredger will be assembled and tested, upon CDC Dredging request, in the Dubai facility of Dredge Yard. This will not only provide easy access to the client but will also facilitate convenient and quick transportation of the dredger to UAE once finished.
According to Dr. Kelani, they chose Dredge Yard to deliver this dredger, because is an “agile company, able to answer all our needs, providing adapted designs and drawings to comply with our requirements for manufacturing a customized dredger, using innovative equipment”. Despite the customization, the order is to be delivered within three months.
