Kongsberg Transfers Seaglider Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Division To Hydroid 1

The integration of Kongsberg Maritime’s the Seaglider Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Division to Hydroid, Inc. has been announced.

This transfer of Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc.’s (KUTI) Seaglider allows Hydroid will to leverage the technologies that complement and markets in the REMUS and Seaglider product lines.

This incorporation will also raise the variety of technical solutions and program management support that can be given to customers.

“We look forward to leveraging the strengths of these advanced technologies to enhance both product lines and offer a more diverse set of solutions to our customers,” said Duane Fotheringham, President of Hydroid.

The office of KUTI that is in Lynnwood has been renovated in order to provide about 18,000 square feet of space to Hydroid for the engineering and manufacture of Seaglider. The integration has also increased the number of employees of Hydroid to 200.

KUTI will not be a subsidiary of Hydroid any more. It will put together its business with Kongsberg Maritime, Inc. in Houston, TX. However, it will still provide its customers with Full Picture solutions that focus on sonars, acoustics, subsea docks and monitoring, and underwater science sensors.
