MOL Operated/Managed Vessels Earn Commendations From Japan Coast Guard

It was announced by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL) that they have received commendation from the commanders of the 3rd, 5th and 10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters of the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) for eleven of their operated/managed vessels.

3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters commended vessels are:

Iron Ore Carrier RMC ALTAIR
Ore Coal Carrier MIDNIGHT DREAM
Ore Coal Carrier JASPER DREAM
Containership ONE COMPETENCE
Containership MOL MANEUVER
LNG Carrier ENERGY NAVIGATOR

5th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters commended vessels are:
LNG Carrier AL ZUBARAH
Containership MOL CELEBRATION

10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters commended vessels are:
VLCC AZUMASAN
Woodchip Carrier ALBANY PIONEER

Individuals and organizations that contributed to marine information services have been presented with testimonials by the commanders of the Regional Coast Guard headquarters to mark the Japan Hydrography Day. MOL’s vessels have given significant contributions by providing observed data on the temperature of seawater and oceanic currents to the coast guard’s marine information services. For this MOL vessels have been praised a lot and from them, eleven were selected for special recognition.

The information that is given by merchant vessels is of great help to the JCG Hydrographic and Oceanographic. These Departments provide information related to navigation to the vessels from the ports in Japan using the data on ocean currents, tidal currents, etc from vessels.

Mitsuhisa Tanimoto, the Marine Safety Division General Manager of MOL who was present at the commendation ceremony on the 12th of September at the 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters received a testimonial from the commander of the 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters.
