An LNG bunkering vessel will be supplied to Kasi Group by the technology group Wärtsilä. To those who will be operating the LNG bunkering services, the stimulator will help provide them with hands-on training. Wärtsilä is the first company to provide such a stimulator. The order placed in July.

“As the global demand for LNG fuel for marine applications increases, the number of LNG bunkering vessels serving this demand is also increasing. To achieve the best operating practices, safety, and efficiency, first-rate crew training is essential. The Wärtsilä simulator enables this,” says Captain Bo Caspersen, General Manager, Kasi Group. “We are familiar with Wärtsilä’s competence in simulator systems having used them in our research and development programme for some ten years already. We therefore had no hesitation in approaching Wärtsilä again when we were asked to provide training”.

There has been a rise in the demand for the training services for LNG bunkering services since 2017 when there was only one LNG bunkering vessel in service. The number had increased to nine ships by the end of 2018. However, it is estimated that in the next 5 years, 30 such ships will be delivered.

A total of five work stations, which has one for the instructor and four for the trainees is included in the TechSim LCHS Network Class simulator that will be supplied by the Wärtsilä to Kasi Group.
