France Signs IMO Treaty On Fishing Vessel

F​rance has signed the IMO treaty which is on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Fishing Vessel Personnel (STCW-F) and has become the 29th State to sign up to this IMO treaty.

The Convention has been set up that crews of seagoing fishing vessels should be 24 metres in length and above for the certification and serves as the minimum training requirements. In 2012, it was implemented and acts as a fundametal pillar among the international instruments which addresses fishing vessel safety. On June 12, Ambassador Nicole Taillefer, Permanent Representative of France to IMO, met IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim at IMO Headquarters, London, to deposit the instruments of accession.
