Italy Flagged Offshore Vessel Attacked By Pirates Near Gulf Of Mexico

The Mexico Naval Forces released statements about a piracy incident that took place in an offshore vessel that was attacked by pirates on the late hours of the 11th of November.

The vessel is ‘Rema’ which is an Italy flagged offshore vessel belonging to Micoperi.

The Mexican Navy in the statement said that 2 crew members were injured, one was shot and the other had some major head injury. Both were taken to the nearby hospital on the coast.

The incident happened in the Southern Region of the Gulf of Mexico which is not famous for piracy and robbery but has seen an increase in such incidents in the last few years.

According to the local sources, at the time of the incident, there were 35 crew members on board and it has also been allegedly reported that the pirates came near ‘Rema’ in two small fishing ships.
